Reevaluating My Goals (Already)

January 11, 2017 By: Jason Bougger

2017 hasn't been the year I've hoped for yet. So I'm making some adjustments on my goals early so that it still can be.

So we’re only eleven days into 2017 and I’m already writing a “Hey, look at me, I’m sad and discouraged” type of post. Okay, maybe that’s not entirely my purpose in this post. After all, we don’t allow negative thoughts over here at Write Good Books. But that doesn’t mean I won’t occasionally use this […]

Looking back at 2016 and forward to 2017

January 1, 2017 By: Jason Bougger

A look back at my writing accomplishments for 2016 and my goals for 2017.

So let me share my New Year’s Eve tradition for the last several years. We usually end up writing down our goals for the coming year and talking about the many things we were grateful for throughout the previous year as well. Then after everybody else settled in for the night, I’d fix a drink, […]

Books bring more memories than just the stories they tell

December 5, 2016 By: Jason Bougger

All of us readers can remember what we were reading at special points in our lives. Here are mine.

One of those character traits I have that people might consider strange is I keep a physical copy of every book I’ve ever read. I should probably throw in the disclaimer that this doesn’t includes books I’ve read for classes, work, or any audiobooks. I’m just talking about books I’ve read–on paper–for fun. Every now […]

November Progress Report and December Goals (2016)

December 1, 2016 By: Jason Bougger

Here are my accomplishments for November and goals for December.

It’s the final month of the year already. Maybe it’s just me, but this year went by way too fast. I feel like I got a lot done, but there’s so much more I would have liked to accomplish. But that’s that type of stuff that should be reserved for a year-end post, not a […]

Thoughts from my first author fair

November 14, 2016 By: Jason Bougger

Well, happy Monday everybody. I know people think I’m crazy when I say this, but Monday is still my favorite day of the week. I like that feeling of getting a fresh start every seven days. But enough about that. I wanted to talk about this weekend. This weekend I was one of the authors […]

Discouraged? Sort of, but it’s not a big deal.

November 7, 2016 By: Jason Bougger

Ever feel down about your writing? Like you're not good enough, or working hard enough, or accomplishing anything? Me too. The solution is to find out what make you feel good about writing and give yourself permission to do that sometimes.

I’ve been feeling a little bit discouraged about writing over the last month or so. It’s not so much the “woe is me, I haven’t had an acceptance in a while” type of discouragement, but the kind where I feel like I haven’t been putting in enough effort. Like I’m not working hard enough. Like […]

October Progress Report and November Goals (2016)

October 31, 2016 By: Jason Bougger

My writing progress report for October goals for November.

Happy Halloween! And happy final day of October. I’ll say this has been a pretty good month. (Ignoring the ongoing thing about my house caving in upon itself.) In the world of non-writing stuff, we took the kids to a bunch of Halloween things and they’re totally ready to fill up those bags of candy […]
