Guest Post: 5 Ways to Stay Motivated as a Blogger by Nikos Alepidis

January 27, 2019 By: Jason Bougger

Everyone has gone through writer's block, a phase where ideas are unwilling to spring out, but here are some 5 simple ways that one can adapt to stay motivated by Nikos Alepidis.

A creative mind is often in need of constant inspiration because without it; motivation would cease to exist. A blogger is a modern-day artist who puts out digital content to the public for a purpose that it might speak to them, relate to them or reach out to them. But whatever the reason is, there is this responsibility of a blogger to keep the audience engaged, and that would not be possible if the creator is falling short of ideas! As Oscar Wilder so famously quoted, “Art Imitates Life”, I find this to be true because the source of all creative ideas is from within a person and how a person chooses to make of their situation. Everyone has gone through writer’s block, a phase where ideas are unwilling to spring out, but here are some 5 simple ways that one can adapt to stay motivated.

1. INTERACTING WITH LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE

Yes, you’d rather stay in front of your computer staring at the blinking cursor. You feel like you deserve isolation from any activity, but that is always not the answer. The mind needs food through perception and interacting with people who have the same interests as you is bound to coax that motivation from within you. A change of perspective and a tackling of a situation from a different angle will surely bring out a fresher outlook on your current unmotivated state.

2. DE-CLUTTER YOUR LIFE

This means your room, your house and even the toxic people in your life. Minimalism is the key to staying focused as the clutter surrounding your life might be what’s weighing you down. It is important to feel ‘light-weight’ and to be free from all inhibitions as a blogger to truly succeed as one that provides original content and one which people will be looking forward to.

3. SET GOALS

Setting goals for a specific time-period will act as a motivator for sure. As humans, we are natural procrastinators, and we are lost without a cause. For example, setting a goal to write at least a thousand words a day may make you feel that you are doing something substantial and it fills you with the purpose in that process. You can channel that feeling into motivating yourself that takes you one step closer to your ultimate goal.

4. DON’T MAKE EXCUSES

This is what we like to do every time we are faced with a task. Remember that you are not tired, you’re uninspired. At any moment, if you feel like making an excuse for yourself, think back on why you wanted to be a blogger in the first place and think back on how sure and motivated you were when you started. Those feeling will act as a medium to bring you back on your feet as the once motivated blogger that you were!

5. READ MORE

This is an age-old remedy for just about everything. Yes, it’s the age of the internet, and most people have given up the old-fashioned way of reading. And be it your Kindle or your favorite paperback, but reading tickles your imagination and offers the mod a newer dimension on how we perceive things around us. So, yes, read a book!
