Quick update on stuff

March 31, 2015 By: Jason Bougger

EditingHey, I just wanted to chime in real quick to say thanks for all the encouraging and congratulatory email and facebook messages I received since announcing the upcoming novel. It really means a lot to me.

So my next step is to approve the suggestions I got back from the editor and rewrite the parts she said need rewriting. The deadline for that is pretty much right now.

After that, the manuscript with go through a copy editor to clean up the grammar and punctuation. (In other words, to make it look like the author knew what he was doing when he wrote it.)

Once that is complete, they’ll send me the final galley proof for approval and then…well, I guess that’s it.

I’ll have a box full of contributor’s copies that I might do a few contest giveaways with, but I’ll probably give most away to friends and family and keep a few on hand for conventions.

The next big step for me will be the marketing, as with a small publisher the marketing department is for the most part the same person who’s name is on the spine of the book. Regardless, it will be a great learning experience.

But that’s about it. I don’t plan to neglect this blog, or Theme of Absence, but don’t be surprised if I miss a couple of posts every now and then, while I’m getting everything together.

It’s going to be busy around here for a little while, so I just want to say thanks to Amber for being the most supportive wife in the world.
