Five Links Friday 10/30/15

October 30, 2015 By: Jason Bougger

The best articles about writing HORROR I read this week. And it is Friday, but it’s so much for than that. It’s the day before Halloween! It’s the night we stay up late and watch scary movies as we prepare to take the kids out trick-or-treating and filling up with candy.

And writing, of course. Specifically writing horror. So with that theme in mind, here are 5 horror-related writing links:

1. Wizzley.com has an awesome and long article on How to Write a Horror Story. Whether you’re a life-long fan and writer of horror, or just starting out, this article is full of helpful info.

2. And if that article didn’t have enough info for ya, here are another 7 Tips to Writing Horror from HubPages.com.

3. Need more? Karen Woodward has 17 Ways To Write A Terrifyingly Good Horror Story that you should check out.

4. While you’re at it, you should also read this WD article by Cris Freese On Writing Horror and Avoiding Clichés. Something we can all fall victim to every now and then.

5. And finally, here are 20 Terrifying Two-Sentence Horror Stories to keep you up at night from Mandatory.com.

Have an incredible Halloween and don’t forget to check out Theme of Absence first thing Saturday morning to read the winning story of our Halloween Horror Flash Fiction Contest.

And if you’re hitting NaNoWriMo this year, best of luck and let us know how you do!
