Five Links Friday 3/16/18

March 16, 2018 By: Jason Bougger

The best articles I read about writing this weekIt looks like this crazy week is finally over. Here are the best writing articles I read this week about writing. Enjoy!

1. Since I’m getting ready to start querying agents again soon (and by ‘soon’, I mean after I finish writing the book I’m about 1% done with. We’re talking 2019 here, folks) here’s an awesome story by Anne Raven on how she got her agent: How I got my agent.

2. But if You Finally Finished Your Book then it’s time for promotion. Here’s an article by TheDailyWrite.net with some quick brainstorming promotion ideas.

3. JM Williams has a post looking at The Problems with Quirky Dialogue Tags. He goes into far more detail than I would. (I would simply say “I hate them.”) Either way, read his article!

4. Here’s an older post by Martha Alderson that is worth a look when dealing with backstory and character development: How to Reveal Your Character’s Backstory Wound.

5. And finally, with tomorrow being my birthday and all, here’s a look at Impostor Syndrome. What Is It And How Can Writers Overcome It? by Claire Bradshaw.

That’s it for this week. A quick programming note, life got in the way of things this week and I couldn’t get together with Scott to record a podcast. I couldn’t even get together with myself to record one. So I’m hoping to have one ready next weekend, and then be back on schedule the week after that. And that’s that ;). Have great St. Patty’s day, and check back next week for more writing-related fun stuff at the blog!
