Five Links Friday the 13th: 11/13/15

November 13, 2015 By: Jason Bougger

Five Links Friday the 13th. The best articles I read about writing HORROR this weekAnother week has flown by and it’s not only time for Five Links Friday, but for Five Links Friday the 13th. Only two mere weeks ago, we posted a horror-themed 5 Links for Halloween, but we’re doing it again this week to celebrate horror, slashers, and writers of the dark arts everywhere.

1. Farah Penn has an article at Buzzfeed looking at 18 Horror Novels Every True Fan Should Read Before Watching The Movie Version. I agree fully. In fact, I still haven’t seen The Shining for this very reason.

2. And while on the topic of movies and books, here are 9 Books Scarier Than Any Horror Movie from Molly Horan at Mashable.

3. We’re all writers here, correct? So here is some writing advice in the form of How To Tell Scary Stories, From the Co-Creator of “American Horror Story”.

4. And if you really just don’t feel like writing right now, here is a list of Horror Reads For Fans of Horror Flicks by Jamie Canaves at Book Riot.

5. Finally, as “Friday the 13th” usually springs memories of cheesy slasher films from the 80’s, here are 25 Of The Most Underrated Horror Films From The 1980s from Taste of Cinema. And yes, our favorite masked, undead killing machine does make a cameo on the list.

And that is it for the week. I hope this article was a nice, quick, diversion from NaNoWriMo. Now get back to work!
