Five Links Friday 12/18/15

December 18, 2015 By: Jason Bougger

Five Links Friday - The Best Articles I Read About Writing This WeekFive Links Friday! If you made it to Star Wars last night, cool for you. I’ll be avoiding most of the internet, as I probably won’t get to a theater until an afternoon showing early next week. But that’s okay; there’s always some writing to be done. And reading. Here are five links for ya…

1. Sheri McInnis gives us something to think about in her guest post at Gordon A. Wilson’s blog, with a look at her decision to self-publish: The Top 5 Reasons I’m Self-Publishing – Instead of Going Back to the Big Guys.

2. I don’t know if I play well enough with other to ever co-write a book, but for those of you who might want to try, the Creative Penn has a great podcast looking at How To Co-Write A Book. Collaboration And Co-Creation With J Thorn.

3. Characters…we all need to create better characters. And the best way to do that is to make them real. Here’s a post by Ryan Lanz with some advice on How to Develop Realistic Characters.

4. So Why Isn’t There One Right Way to Write? Jami Gold has the answer.

5. Is it necessary to pay for book promotion? My best answer is: maybe. Derek Haines, however, can answer that question with a few more words than me in his post.

That does it for this week. If you didn’t see the new Star Wars movie, go see it and talk to me about it next week. Until then, have a great weekend!

Thanks for the shout out to my post! Talking about how and why we each have unique writing processes has been an interesting discussion. 🙂
